Indian Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs Approves Export of 1 Million MT of Rice to Indonesia

On January 1st, the Indian Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the export of 1 million metric tons of non-basmati white rice to Indonesia. This meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as announced by Agriculture Minister Shivaraj Singh Chouhan. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Ministry of Cooperation, India and the Ministry of Trade, Indonesia.

Sinton has already established a relationship with BULOG Public Corporation (BULOG), an Indonesian government agency managing the logistics and distribution of staple goods such as rice. This is highlighted by Sinton’s recent role as facilitator for the 1 million metric tons of rice trade on a government-to-government basis (G2G) between the government agencies that will operate this trade will be managed by BULOG from Indonesia and National Cooperative Exports Ltd. (NCEL) from India.

This rice trade is expected to foster greater economic collaboration and enhance food security between India and Indonesia, setting the stage for future cooperation in other sectors.
